B I toCape may N J
We were up at 6 am and let me tell you it was coooold …So we turned on the heater , life is good ! As we pulled up the anchor all 200 ft we headed out into 20 -25 kts from the N W we had a great sail till 1 am today then the winds settled down and on came the motor . About 1:30 am some wierd noises started to come from the propeller or that area anyway ? not a good thing , so after some deliberations I decided to keep going and monitor the situation if it continued to get worse .. we would pull into an alternative port and go under and see what the problem was , about 2 hours later the noise seamed to work itself out and it was back to normal . But i will be going under to see whats going on when we get into the Chesapeake .. Our trip the last 32 hrs was to go from B I to Cape may N J . but not the way it worked out we were 30 miles outside Cape May when the wind turned so we decided to go to the nearest port and seek refuge , shelter , safety … OOPS ! it turned out to be Atlantic City .. This is now an east coast Vegas but in its day it was a Pirate hangout …Arrrghh!
Stay tuned for Atlantic city highlights!

What’s up Kenny and Everett? Who’s the funny looking guy at the wheel? Beautiful Columbus day weekend. Golf tournament this Sunday at Waverley, Seamus (the cheap bastard) is springing for breakfast in lieu of a party. We’ll hoist one up for you guys after golf. Godspeed. Mike Aaaargh.
Good morning Everett and Kenny,
Yeah, I’m in! Yesterday I blogged you, but the modem went down in the middle of it and all was lost . Your sister Karen gave me a good hint to print the blog when I am done. Thanks Karen. Thanks Fred for a wonderful web site. It is great to follow their travels as well as their friends’ comments as they head to warmer waters.
On October 18th, I tried to pick you up at the inner harbor marina in Baltimore during the running of the Baltimore City marathon. That was not a good thing. I was never so happy to see you down in Fells Point at the Anchorage marina, with Kenny offering me libation as soon as I reached the boat.
Everett and I were so happy to attend baby Caroline’s shower and get to meet her. It was great for Everett to say hi and goodbye to hosts Linda, Steve, Lindsay, and Jon; Jenifer, Jared, and big sister Amelia; Denise and Lenny; Grandad; Aunt Joyce, Charlene, and JP; Sonia and Barry; Deana; Pattie and anyone else I forgot to mention. Thanks Linda and Steve for a great party had by all.
Thanks Kenny for allowing me to tag along with you to Bernie and Kate’s Valiant sailboat party, as a distant relative of the first mate. Thanks Kate for honing in on my directions because once I saw the Annapolis mall and then the Naval Academy football field, I knew I needed your help. Thanks Bernie and Kate for a wonderful time. It was comforting to hear your experiences and expertise, as well as all the other Valiant sailboat owners.
On October 25th we tried to have a bon voyage party for you at North Herrington Harbor marina. With 25 knot winds and periods of drenching rains, St. Elmo wasn’t with us. Many thanks to all the brave souls who came and attempted to come despite the inclement weather: Kevin, Mou, Serena and Blake; Ken; Rita and Alan; Barry; Kim; Sherie and Dave; Gail, Jake and Keith; Diane and Joe (for a courageous attempt despite a flat tire and a three hour tour). Thanks Everett for maintaining your position at the stove. Some things just never change! Even though there were stormy conditions outside, there were alot of laughs and warmth down below in the galley.
Even though the gale force winds of 30 knots were not favorable for the Loon’s departure, I was happy to have you at the house for a few more days. Thanks Kenny for helping Everett complete his “honey do list”. As Dot used to say, “many hands make light the work”. A special thank you Kenny for replanting the ginkgo tree Everett planted last Mother’s Day in memory of Dot. Dot’s tree was growing crooked but the three stakes placed in the ground by you will help her grow tall and strong.
Thanks Everett and Kenny for allowing me to take pictures as the “three pirateers” as I took you to the marina for your last night on board the Loon before you set sail the next morning (or so we thought). Boy was I surprised when I received a phone call from Everett the next day saying you were still here, because you were stuck in mud! After a 2.5 hour drive to meet you for dinner at the Killarney House, I decided to spend the night on board with you. Despite Everett’s long underwear, blankets and body heat, it was a little too cool for comfort. I was wondering why I was slip sliding when I walked up to the marina’s bathroom in the morning. I thought I needed new sneakers when Everett informed me it was frost and ice. I will meet you in warmer climate!
Kenny, I am glad you took, Pepe, the teddybear pirate, on board as your mascot. Every time you need a little cheer, he will play his song for you. It will be good to have other’s input on picking the perfect name for him. Just make sure Everett doesn’t throw him overboard.
Sorry my first blog is so long but I had alot to say…
Love,
Sue
